The MMRI has been a leading investigator of cardiac health for over 60 years. Heart disease continues to be the number one cause of death in America, and MMRI scientists are dedicated to understanding the various complications and working towards ways to treat and potential cure them. This area of research includes the study of arrythmias, cardiac inflammation, and myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Cardiac arrythmias: Arrythmias are irregular heartbeats due to numerous conditions.
Cardiac inflammation: Inflammation is part of the body’s natural response to fight against anything harming it. However, too much or too little inflammation can result in further complications.
Myocardial infarction (heart attack): Occurs when blood flow is blocked from reaching the heart.
